2. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

This UAMx CIVIS MOOC aims to improve written expression in French through a progressive approach combining theory, practice and self-assessment. Learners are introduced to the fundamental principles of writing, including discourse organisation, coherence, cohesion, and the appropriate use of lexical and grammatical resources. The course develops mastery of discourse markers and useful expressions for arguing, illustrating, explaining, expressing opinions and drawing conclusions. It is structured into two sections: a theoretical component devoted to the foundations of writing and a practical component focused on guided and independent writing. With a total workload of 75 hours (3 ECTS credits), the course includes 30 hours of supervised activities and 45 hours of independent study. Flexible in format, it can be completed at each learner’s own pace. By the end of the course, participants will be able to produce clearer, more accurate and better-structured texts in French. The course is designed for intermediate-level learners with a basic knowledge of French grammar and vocabulary.
